Tomorrow I send my daughter to Second Grade. And each year, I am more and more worried about what she will be exposed to when she leaves my home. But I am a strong advocate for the public school system. I’m also an advocate for God and families.

I believe it is our duty as mothers to strengthen our children at home and give them the tools — the armor — they need to withstand the world in which we live.

Armor Your Children is a devotional series designed to send your school-bound kids out the door armed with the Word of God.  Each week has a theme supported by 5 different scriptures (Monday-Friday).

(Each month I will post 4 more weeks! Follow us on Facebook or by RSS feed so you don’t miss the next series.)

11/27/2012 Update: Go over to this blog post for the most recent version.

Updated 10/29/2012: Month 1, month 2 AND month 3 are located over at this post. Month 1 is still located down below.

It’s quick and easy. Just four simple steps:

  1. Download the FREE devotional series (just click right here and it will automatically download to your computer) or view it at the bottom of this post.
  2. Print it onto card stock or print and place it in a binder or sheet protector
  3. Each morning discuss a scripture with your children around the table at breakfast or cuddled on the couch.
  4. Send them out the door ARMED with the Word of God.

It just may be the most important 3 minutes you offer your school-bound children each day.

Below is the first month: Series 1. I focused on values important to the start of school like: kindness, learning, etc.

  2. Gina says:

Very well put. I wish it could solve the issues for my 2 year old in day care right now though. :)

    • Elizabeth says:

Gina, Two years is a very tough age…few problems are easily solved, even when mom is always there, but; is there any way YOU could be your 2 year old’s care provider? I agree that nothing is more important than giving children all the skills and protection they need to be successful. No one loves your child like you do.

  3. Trisha says:

Thank you so much for posting this. My son gets up early and I was thinking that I should do some kind of devotional before he leaves for school. This is so perfect in helping me get started and having a plan to follow so I feel like I can keep doing it. Thanks again.

Thank you for encouraging moms whose kids are in public school. My children and I started praying together before school about 5 years ago. Prayers are short but I send them out the door with God on their mind.

God is amazing! Just yesterday in Sunday School we were talking about developing routines that include spiritual conversations with your children in the morning, when driving, while eating, and at bedtime. Mornings are a struggle for me and I asked for prayer in this area and here it is! My first time seeing this!
