Holding the book in my hands, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful cover. I could feel the embossed title words under my thumb. As I began reading, it was clear this perspective of taking a look at a day in a mother’s life – hour by hour – was very unique, even refreshing.
I’ve actually been waiting the release of Jessica Poe‘s book, “Everyday MOMents: Discovering Christ in the Details of Motherhood,” for months! Jessica and I share a publisher and I remember the day she called me asking about my own book experience. (Birthing a book is a lot like birthing a baby and you need every bit as much emotional support. For reals.)
In that first conversation with Jessica, what struck me the most was her dedicated quest to bring this book to a book shelf and help so many other Christian moms begin to see more of Christ in each ‘MOMent’ of their day. And boy do we need help finding purpose in snotty noses, sleepless nights and insufferable teenagers.
Each chapter of this book is a different hour of the day, beginning at 6 a.m. and working through 9 a.m. And in each chapter Jessica helps us see motherhood from yet a different perspective. She uses quotes, scriptures and MOMents from her own life to help us draw closer to Christ.
Each chapter is short and as a busy mom that’s nice because I was able to pick it up between the crazy moments of my own day.
I love the part at the end of each chapter where we are offered a chance to reflect similar situations in our own life. It even feels like Jessica has shared real clips from her own spiritual journal! As I read this book, I actually wished I’d had a small notebook dedicated just to these personal insights.
And LUCKY for you, you can download a free study guide on Jessica’s blog! The study guide includes the same questions and prompts that follow the chapters in the book, but in a printable format so you can brainstorm, doodle and write all the personalized promptings that pop to your mind.
