My kids and I just adore HGTV’s new(er) show Fixer Upper. Each week we climb on the couch and pile under blankets and watch Chip and Joanna Gaines Fixer Upper HGTV hostsas they update and remodel a house into a beautiful home. Even my boys love watching.

I love how real and authentic the Gaines family is and love their dedication to family and God. We need more families like this on TV. Today I ran across this video by Baylor University of Joanna Gaines telling her story and was so inspired — moved to tears really. I just had to share this with you! (See the video at the bottom of the post)

God Has a Purpose For You

Just as she beautifully decorates each home, she beautifully teaches us about dreams and the ultimate Dream Giver – Heavenly Father. In this video Joanna explains how she knew God told her, “give your dream to me and I will make it great. I have a calling for you.”

How many of us have heard that same voice or felt the tug on our heart saying – I have a calling for you.

I have. It’s why MOMentity even exists. But listening to that calling and then acting on it I have found to be one of the most challenging, faith-inducing experiences. And I admire Joanna so much. God knows each of us and we are enough. In Jeremiah we learn that God knows us personally and has for-ordained us for great things – even great things through little means.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…” Jeremiah 1:5

In Due Time

Joanna shares how even after opening her first shop she felt she needed to be home raising her babies and thought her dream had ended. Thinking a dream is over can be so hard. But God taught her, “if you trust me with your dream, I’m going to take it further than you will even imagine.” It’s all about God’s purpose and God’s timing.

And then one day she heard the nudge, “Jo, it’s time.”

I was so inspired when she said, “I trusted you (God) with my dream and you’ve taken it far beyond what I could have ever imagined.” She goes on to say, “God has a purpose for me but also for you!”

I think I’m still on this journey of giving my dream to God and letting Him show me what it can be. I can’t wait — I know with Him I can do anything!

Joanna reminds us to release the fear that comes from the Adversary and let God lead you to your dreams.
